The Newsletter Footer
While sending a newsletter, there are certain legal obligations to comply with. The ISP filters for scam and junk mail also require the sender to follow certain rules Therefore there has to be a space left for these administrative obligations to be listed on the newsletter. This is where the newsletter footer comes handy.
The reader will also need some more information from the sender of the newsletter. Therefore, the following should be displayed on the footer of the newsletter.
• An email address or a link for the feedback.
• A link for the subscription to the newsletter, with instructions for it.
• A link to unsubscribe, with instructions for the same.
• Any other links that are relevant to the newsletter, like some advertisements, sister companies’ links, websites or publications etc…..
• Notice for your copyright.
• Any other legal information, such as a physical address required by the anti spam legislation.
While the unsubscribe link and information is required to be given as per the legal requirement; the subscribe link info is optional. However, the same, if given, can prove useful as the readers may pass on the link to other friends and relatives who may subscribe to the newsletter. This can ensure more publicity for the newsletter as such.
The instructions given with the subscribe link should be handy for the new members to make it easy for them, in case they like to subscribe. Moreover, it can help the old members also to again subscribe, if they wish so.
